Ursa Deep, 2019
Painting of a Stalked Ascidean (Sea Squirt) of the Five Deeps

The Five Deeps discovered a huge beautiful stalked Ascidean drifting with the currents of the deep sea trenches, a previously unseen and unknown creature.
On first sight I imagined I saw the head of a polar bear that glided across the screen with majesty and a solemn gracefulness.

This is painted in the context of imagining the 'Limiting Factor' submersible hovering just in sight and reflected on its gelatinous body in deep blue colours and the marine snow of the Ursa Minor and Ursa Major star constellations on the canvas - this is the Ursa (Bear) of the Deep.

Acrylic on linen 40 x 50cm
£300 plus postage

Black wood framing available at cost
