Translucid Calm is painted on aluminium revealing the transparent nature of the Snail fish found in many deep-sea trenches of the world. A gelatinous, fragile creature, it is an abundant and varied species only recently discovered in depths over 6000m below sea level which vary in size and colour from pink, blue and purple. Inspired by its calm, slow movement and the lack of spikes and luminous lures that we associate with deep sea creatures, it stirs ideas about the resilience and beauty of life under immense pressure, in this instance within our deepest seas.
