Inspired by the Albedo triptych Stuart Bruce composed a piece in three parts to bring the dangers of the time we live in to people’s attention.
Opening with an arctic landscape of white noise through resonant filters, strange guitar tones created with fishing weights on the strings resound with cracking noises from old plastic bottles.
Suggesting splitting and breaking ice the composition evokes the resonance of ice floes knocking together.
From there it flows into a section created entirely from sine waves. The tense harmonies using frequency intervals from the formulas of the most common hydrocarbons found in oil.
To conclude, the third section conjures a polluted electronic sea with sounds similar to an Indonesian Gamelan orchestra slowly disappearing beneath the distorted resonant waves.
