Inspired by the reflective quality of Arctic ice, this piece is about its impact on global warning and climate change. A frozen ocean acts as a temperature regulator for the planets oceans, reflecting 85% of the suns heat back into space. As ice melts, the sun’s energy (93%) is absorbed by the ocean, causing remaining ice to melt faster. This resonates throughout the oceans, affecting thermal currents, disrupting the conveyor current and altering climate and ecosystems.
The triptych portrays the Arctic ice melting and being absorbed by the ocean. A process that negatively affects the Albedo (proportion of light reflected) of our planet.
