Long listed for the 2018 BP Portrait Exhibition
In 'Cornerstones' two sisters and their brother face out of the picture plane, each looking in separate directions. They are divided by a depth in the painting, their overlaid shoulders close but distinct.
The eyes of all sitters are aligned to unite three distinct people. It encourages the viewer to travel right to left across the painting and from back to front.
